BOOTS to BUSINESSThe VBOC assists clients in determining the feasible of their idea as a business and with developing a viable business plan. The business plan includes such elements as the business concept, legal entity and organizational structure of the business, industry and market analysis, and a financial plan. The core of this training is the Boots to Business (and Boots to Business REBOOT) program. Boots to Business is a two-day entrepreneurial education initiative offered by the SBA as an elective track within the Department of Defense's revised Transition Assistance Program taught on military installations around the world. The REBOOT program is a 1 or 2-day entrepreneurial workshop offered to the larger military community. For a full list of Boots to Business | Reboot workshops, please visit: https://sbavets.force.com/s/

The VBOC (in conjunction with our resource partners including the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Women's Business Center (WBC), the Procurement and Technical Assistance Center (PTAP) and SCORE) offers additional training in areas of interest to Veteran-owned businesses including government contracting, small business set-asides and SDVOSB/VOSB verification; in addition to more traditional topics including marketing and sales, business finances and options for funding, small business taxes and QuickBooks, hiring and retaining quality employees, and much more! For a complete list of upcoming classes, please visit: https://www.cbponline.org/Business-Training/Class-Calendar.aspx

Our staff and volunteer experts provide one-on-one counseling sessions on specific business issues including business plan review, growth and strategic planning, marketing, business development and sales, financial forecasting, funding options, bookkeeping and accounting, small business taxes, registration and certification (including review of 8a, WOSB and SDVOSB/VOSB certification applications), government contracting and proposal writing, review of legal documents, and much more!

Finally, the VBOC offers regular opportunities for Veteran business owners (and their supporters) to gather and network. The Annual Veterans In Business Conference provides education, networking and business opportunities for the military community (including all era Veterans, active duty, National Guard, Reservists and military spouses) who continue to strengthen our country with their small business endeavors and entrepreneurial spirit. The conference was created by civic and business leaders to provide networking opportunities, training and exposure to the military community who wish to start and grow their businesses (whether it be B2B, B2G,B2C or non-profit) through the many opportunities the metro DC area affords.
