Note: This is a 2 day intensitve training series and participants must comit to both days.

Effective financial management is necessary to grow a successful business. Understanding the fundamentals of your business financials and the role it plays in all areas of your company is necessary.

The Business Financial Management Growth Series is a 2-day intensive training program. It is designed to support clients who need to grow and better manage the financial aspect their businesses. If you want to scale but need help with financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, risk assessment, or accessing and managing capital, this series is for you.

Free follow-up group working session will be offered to attendees. Open Networking Session will also be available after the training.

Attendees will also receive free 1-on-1 counseling support after completion of training. Instructors for this training program will include industry volunteer experts dedicated to helping you.

Objectives

  • Understand the fundamentals of a proper financial management.
  • Identify how good financial planning can create an anchor for continued business success.
  • Improve understanding of Cash Flow, Budgeting, Financial Forecasting and Risk Management requirements.
  • Identify key strategies to help Maximize Profit Potential.
  • Identify solutions for Capital Access and how to Prepare for Funding.
  • List of Resources to help aid better financial management processes.

Day One

Session 1: Intro to Business Financial Management
The first session of the series will focus on the fundamentals of business financial management and will cover:

  • Debunking Financial Myths & Misconceptions
  • Budgeting & Money Management
  • Forecasting for Growth
  • Managing Cash Flow
  • Preparing for Growth

Session 2: Preparing for Growth
This session addresses how to properly prepare for growth in your business and will cover:

  • Diversifying Your Business
  • Past, Present & Future Financial Position
  • Leveraging Growth
  • Pricing for Growth
  • Financial Ratios & Formulas
  • Credit Management Solutions
  • Financial KPIs

Day Two

Session 3: Understanding Risk
In this session, we’ll take a deep dive into the topic of financial risk and will cover:

  • Financial Risk Management
  • Financial Crisis Management
  • Financial Compliance
  • Preparing for Financial Audit
  • Accounting Solutions for Smart Money Management
  • Record Keeping for Small Business

Session 4: Show Me The Money!
In our final session of the series, we’ll breakdown how you successfully finance your business and will cover:

  • Fundamentals of Business Success
  • Preparing for Financing
  • Raising Capital
  • Core Factors for Success

The series cost of $199 includes workbooks, spreadsheets, templates, other training materials, light lunch, and refreshments.


The Small Business Development Center is funded at the Community Business Partnership through a cooperative agreement between George Mason University and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Cancellation Policy

  • Participants whose checks are returned for insufficient funds will be charged a $35 fee.
  • Participants who have paid for a class and do not cancel at least 24 hours in advance, will forfeit their entire payment.
  • Participants wishing to receive a refund and have canceled in a timely manner will be charged a 10% administrative fee.
