Morgan Champion

Morgan Champion is Of Counsel in the Geller Law Group’s Business Practice. She focuses her practice on many areas of business-related law, including intellectual property, employment issues, transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and litigation counseling.

Prior to joining the Geller Law Group, Morgan was an associate at Cooley LLP (Washington, DC) in their Trademark, Copyright, and Advertising practice group. During her time at Cooley, she counseled large Silicon Valley tech giants and small start-ups on a shoestring budget about many issues related to their IP portfolios, from prosecuting trademark applications to litigating and winning bet-the-company lawsuits.

After Cooley, Morgan was an in-house corporate attorney for Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music company. There, she gained experience helping to solve the various legal issues that most companies face, all while being a member of the business team itself. While working at UMG, she deftly navigated the legal challenges that are unique to businesses that promote art and artists, and she quite enjoys the thrill of working to keep the legal waters calm so artists and business executives alike can focus on their main objectives. Her practice primarily focused on trademark, marketing, and branding matters.

Morgan has weaved a legal career that allows her to be a bit of a Swiss Army knife for businesses, with expertise in IP-related matters, as well as contract review, litigation, and employment disputes. She enjoys the work immensely and strives to be a dependable resource for companies and organizations of all sizes operating in many different fields.

Morgan earned her JD from the University of Richmond, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the Law Review and the Client Counseling and Negotiation Board. Before law school, she received her Bachelors of Business Administration from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.

In her off-hours, Morgan enjoys cooking, hiking, training her overzealous dog, and being trained by her grumpy cat (she is an excellent cat butler). She currently lives in Culver City, California with her wife, Jackie, though they are excited about moving back to the DC area soon.
